From my own personal experience ( you can read more about my own personal experiences about flying to and from Sardinia here) direct connections with the UK aren’t always readily available for my needs.
At times I have been desperate for a flight to the UK. The Cagliari airport being my first choice I have found that flight routes from the Milan airports and also the Rome airports are a great alternative when I can’t find a nonstop flight.
If you do come across this situation yourself whether for pleasure or work. Then take a look at this flight option that Ryan air has to offer.
Cagliari (CAG) – Milan (BGY) – East Midlands (EMA),
this is a great alternative and I have personally used it.
